Does anyone know of a MP3 Converter that is compatible with Jaws 8?

It's called CDEX.

Switch works very, very well. Supposedly they want you to buy the plus version and say that the free version is simply a trial, but mine has worked fine for more than six months and though I can't be sure, I think they really try and push the plus version on their website though it is not necesary.

I agree with the last post. I've used Switch for quite awhile now, and really like it. There are a bunch of fields to go torhough, but it works quite well. I convert files and download them to my Braille Plus often, and haven't had a problem.

While CDEX is indeed an excellent CD ripping utility, this is not its sole function. CDEX can also convert from format to format, compress/recompress wav and flac files, and so forth. Furthermore, CDEX uses completely standardized control types, so no scripting is required for accessibility with Jaws, or any other screen reader, for that matter. CDEX also allows one to prioritize the running process based on his/her computing needs, and is furthermore completely free and open source.

ffmpeg is the best convertor out there but requires you understand how a commandline works.

Does switch, or whatever that one is called, work with windows vista, whether one is running a thirty-two or sixty-four-bit operating system?

Yes it works perfectly fine with it.
